Movie Review - Fast and Furious 6

If you like cars and action, this is the movie for you!  The sixth movie of the series is by far one of the best yet.  It wraps up old story lines while following the original cast on their continued adventures.  I like how this movie addresses the 10 year gap between when the original series begun and where the characters are now in their lives.  Time has not stood still and neither has the core original cast members (Dom, Brain, Mia and Letty).  True proof that a well cast movie can last the test of time.  I also like that this movie takes the time to integrate what I use to like to refer to, as the throw away movie of the series, Fast and Furious 3: Tokyo Drift into the original cast members storyline, by addressing key questions that have been left open in moviegoers minds since Fast and Furious 4.  For a series that started out super strong, then kind of lost it's way with the second movie, to totally getting off the course with it's 3rd movie, to getting back on the right track for movies 4 & 5.  The 6th movie of the series proves to be one of the best yet, elevating the playing field, while bringing the cast full circle.

This movie starts out where the 5th movie left off, with the Torettos' and Brain O'Conner's characters living on the lam in the Canary Islands comfortably after pulling off the ultimate $100 million dollar heist, as seen in Fast Five, the previous movie.  We see that the family has stayed close and grown in size as, characters Brain and Mia welcome their first child, baby Jack into the world during the beginning of this film.  With a overlying theme to this sixth installment focusing on family and relationships, we soon see a reappearance of Federal Agent Hobbs, played by "The Rock" who has come in search of Dom and his team to capture a criminal in return for the chance for Dom to reunite his family, by finding lost love Letty. This is where the true story in my opinion begins. The chemistry between Dom and Letty's characters has been evident since the very first movie, but nothing was more telling about their relationship and love for each other, than the short film produced by Vin Diesel, "Los Bandoleros" which basically is a prequel to the 4th movie of the series that was only available via DVD.  This short film, shows you a small insight into the couple's relationship and their intense love for each other, that often leads them into danger.  Who says, soap operas have the market cornered on people returning from the dead?

All in all, I give this film a 9 out of  10, as I liked how it has encapsulated everything that made this franchise great (Hot Cars and Actors), as well as, finally made sure to integrate in all the loose story lines, except one into a useable plot for the future.
